Hi all,

So I have an ASUS G11CD with an i5 6400 CPU 2.7ghz turbo up to 3.2ghz.

The PC does me fine, however I have recently started playing emulated ps3 games and my cpu is struggling with some of the games.

Now I know the 6400 is locked to overclocking and surprise surprise so is the motherboard, I was wondering if there any tricks to getting a few more MHz or even squeezing a bit more speed out of my computer and most importantly, saving a few quid?

Please help :)

you'd have to slap in 7600k for its single/dual core speed increase .

most MSI/ASUS builds use their non coverclocked Units to keep costs down for themselves and profit margin higher .

Ah I see.

I can get a 7600k for £150, but is it worth it? Noticeable etc? And would it just be a simple installation in the board I have now?

i5 6400 speed details

3,300 MHz (1 core),
3,300 MHz (2 cores),
3,200 MHz (3 cores),
3,100 MHz (4 cores)

i5 7600k

4,200 MHz (1 core),
4,100 MHz (2 cores),
4,100 MHz (3 cores),
4,000 MHz (4 cores)

depending on the EMU software being used, most only use one of two cores , and speed is still the king!

BUT THEN... i saw this

might have to be a bios update and i5 6600k instead

3,900 MHz (1 core),
3,800 MHz (2 cores),
3,700 MHz (3 cores),
3,600 MHz (4 cores)

not as tasty as 7600k specially when your not able to overclock it ...
