i have just bought a scythe ninja cpu cooler. but sadly it didnt actually come packaged with the retaining clips for the fan.. so im still using my zalman flower 9500. however, my cpu temp is around 40-45 at idle. and my system temp is 20.

now this isnt normal i know, i would test the new cooler but cannot as of yet.

my rig is, C2D e6600 @ stock, 7950GT 512mb, 2GB Corsair XMS pro DDR2, Asus P5B deluxe wi-fi/AP, 150GB raptor and a thermaltake armour case with 2x 120mm fans intake and outake, 3 80mm fans one internal blowing onto the chipset, two outtake.

im thinking it could be my cpu cooler but i thought the zalman 9500 was good. any help would be appreciated.

They don't actually give you clips, they are more like a wire that bends into the holes in the fan.

yep i saw that mate but i didnt get them. also the small sticker on the bottom of the cooler was peeled off. makes me think i was sent a returned product.

i checked the box and no wire, or clips :( can you get these anywhere easily?

Contact the place you bought it from. They should either send you the parts or replace your item.

Idle CPU temps are pretty useless. We need a 100% load temp.

Tho the chipset temp is going to be a good bit lower than the CPUs core temp.

Right now, under full load, my chipset is 27c and my CPU core temps are 47c.

well i guess ill have to use orthos and see what the max temp goes to?

maybe my ninja will give me much better cpu temps..least i hope so. i have more than enough cooling.

What you you/ I use to put my system under full load to check temps??

Thx

ah found it!
@ 100% sys temp 43
cpu39
running amd 5000 am2 , with Tuniq cooler
Is this any good?

Thx

Which software are you using to read the temps?

well i just got a tuniq tower and now my temps are 28-30 idle with 20-23 system temps so sorted the temps now my 9500 was getting me 46 degrees idle

now for the OC :p

was Asus AI booster now running PC Probe and getting 40 on cpu and 43 on mb

To get an accurate reading of the temps of the cores use either TAT or Coretemp. These read directly from the core and will generally give you temps that are 10-15c higher than motherboard monitoring utilities like Asus Probe.

got it clocked to 3Ghz with stock volts @ 1.2875V, 31 degrees idle. going to run orthos and see how it goes.

gotta say the tuniq tower is a beast :p

Hi, I get between 27-29c at idle with my E6600 at 1.20v, OC of 3ghz with a Turiq Tower 120. Loaded it is 41-44c.
My motherboard temps range between 35 idle to 46 loaded, whilst playing games as CPU loading does nothing to stress north/southbridges.
It's not entirely true to state that the system temps should be lower, not with many motherboards including mine and the the 680's. You try running a P5WDH-Deluxe and see how scary those system temps can be....
