Hi there , I,m looking at these 2 CPU'S and wanted to know which is the best at stock ,no overclocking ?
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) &
Amd Athlon 64 X2 Dual-core Processor 5200+ 2.6 Ghz 2mb L2 Cache

The 5200+ X2 would be similiar speed to an E6400 at stock, possibly very very slightly slower. Price wise there isn't much in it, but the conroe is a little better bang for your bucks. My vote would be for the conroe.

Vote for conroe although slightly biased as I just upgrade from AMD to Intel meself.

To be honest after a long time of overclocking I recently decided I couldn't be botherd with my latest X2 4200. There just isn't the need at the moment. Not a thing it wont handle at stock.

As others have said the 6600 conroe will be the faster of the 2 at stock and when overclocked.

<--- AMD Fanboy from the day they first marched out of the cleanroom.

But I've just bought a Conroe 6600. The CPU comparisons stack up so strongly (except floating point) that I had to plump for Intel.
