ello all,

getting a 7800GT and moving from my current GTO2 for some lost coast HDR goodness :) i was just wondering if i will experience any bottlenecking due to my CPU? or will it be ok? its an A64 3000+ venice cpu clocked from 1.8Ghz to 2.2Ghz. (so about A64 3400 speeds) will that be ok?

thats 3500+, that would be a sweet match for the GT, i think so as i have the same thing. depends what games you play, Lost coast isn't much of a serious game for hours of SP action or weeks of MP action so what else you play.

Lost Coast also supports HDR on the X800 series so that's no reason to upgrade to the next level

As above though, the 7800GT will be fine with your CPU

Your ATI card will also support HDR & AA unlike the nVidia cards

ah to hell with it all, im gonna go get an X1800XT... anyone want a GTO2 and 7800GT lol, :) time for fleebay... any clues about bottleneck on that ?? :)

nVidia cards currently do not support AA & HDR at the same time

Works fine on Lost Coast/CSS HDR maps, just not SM3.0 + AA IIRC.

edit: Just double checked and HDR/4xAA/8xAF on de_nuke (CSS) work flawlessly on my 6600GT....other than going at 20fps

if you havent got the 7800GT, you really should consider the 256MB X1800XT - great price (only costs a little more than an X1800XL).

Floating point HDR + AA does not work on 7800 cards, it works in Lost Coast as it is a different (Full) HDR

With HDR enabled, you cannot enable AA on the GeForce 7 series

We have added the newly released Half-Life 2: Lost Coast level to our video card evaluation suite. This new level expands on the storyline in the coast levels. It includes some very new features implemented in the Source engine, including full support for HDR, which supports AA with HDR
