CPU change bios flash help

Decided im going to upgrade the cpu in my build currently 2700x and asus x-470 f gaming board which can have the latest bios flash to accept the ryzen 7 5800 cpu’s so any help on doing the flash and cpu switchover ? Also any info with regards to the os will it come up thinking the system is all new and require a new windows key ?
 
A new bios will not change any windows keys just boot from the drive as normal after setting the boot order after flashing.

Do not flash the bios threw Windows do it from the bios on a usb drive , instructions wil be in the manual or Asus website.

Changing the cpu its best to warm up your pc to release the cooler so it will be easier to remove
 
got my 5800x coming tomorrow hopefully so in preparation ive managed to flash the bios which tbf wasnt that bad i used the asus ezflash software in the bios the only issue i had was as my bios was so old i had to flash to a slightly newer one and then again to the most recent one it wouldnt let me jump from old to the most recent in one go. Ive got another question for you guys whilst i was on the overclockers website ordering the cpu i came across the ram set i used in the build originally which is teamgroup nighthawk 3000mhz rgb 2x8gb which has now gone down from £150 to £89 so i picked another set up to hopefully run 4 sticks 32gb will i have any issues with this or is it just a case of putting them in the spare two slots and then booting into bios to check the voltage and timings ? any help on this would be appreciated

You should have no issues by just placing the 2 new sticks in the slots and booting into the bios but having looked at your mobos QVL list I cannot see any Teamgroup memory that is certified for 4 DIMM slots. It should work but you will have to plug and test.

You would think that all Teamgroup Nighthawk 3000mhz rgb 2x8gb would be the same but that may not always be true. You need this particular type of code to be identical TF2D416G3000HC16CDC01 on both kits to be sure they are the same modules and not a mix of Samsung / Micron / SK hynix. They will most likely be the same but you cannot be sure unless the codes are the same. Some vendors have multiple revisions of the same branded ram that will use slightlky different modules, not sure if Teamgroup do this type of thing.

With all things Asus it is almost impossible to find what you are looking for on their website but thats where you need to look. I think I got your mobo correct.
 
Yes thats the correct mobo, ill check the code when it arrives thanks for the help. On that device list i cant even see the teamgroup ram i have currently fitted (2 sticks) even showing on there ?

Right guys received the parts today but unfortunately the ram numbers are slighty different will it still be worth giving it a go or a certain no go ?

If you put all 4 sticks in and it does not post then just take 2 out and go back into the bios to change timings etc. You may need to change voltage to SOC or some other setting when you add extra sticks , it depends on the mobo and lot of other factors. Do not change anything and just plug them in and test , if it posts and then boots into windows then there is likely to be no problems.

Even if the codes are slightly different they could be so similar it makes no difference or even if they are different they may still work just fine, it is pretty much test and see.

The video below shows an unboxing of that ram, and it looks like it can be opened without damaging the packaging, so should be no issue with returning it if need be.

 
Thanks for all your help people it was much appreciated, all hardware installed and working as good as i can see the ram was just plug and play in the end no issues posting etc and in cpu-z all slots are the same mhz voltage and timings. Cpu temp was 68 degrees when i just tried resi evil village which is full 4k high settings was up to 118fps its definitely a sizable difference in performance
