Evening all,

Looking for some guidance for a new CPU cooler.

I currently have a Corsair H60 AIO Cooler which is keeping my i5 2500k nice and cool. Im going to make the jump to Skylake fairly soon (next few months) but im looking for a new cpu cooler which will work on both my current setup and can still be used on my future rig.

I would like to move towards a non AIO as my current H60 is showing some serious signs of wear and i'd like my new rig to last as long as possible as I wont be upgrading for a while after.

I've used the Hyper 212 evo a couple of times in other builds but was wondering if there was a better one out there for the money?

Anyone out there with experience on current cpu coolers would be greatly appreciated. Sub £40 would be nice, but could be convinced to spend more if the benefits are worth it.

Thanks in advance

These Phanteks air coolers are fantastic, it's kept my CPU very cool for the past few months and it is very easy to clean.

Those Phanteks look pretty sweet, what are the temps like?

I reckon ill be going for a modest overclock on my skylake build so any info is appreciated.

If a modest overclock is all you're after then the two coolers above are too expensive in my opinion.

You could get great performance, a quiet cooler and decent overclocks while spending less.

A small selection from a couple of well regarded manufacturers.

Thank you Sir, I had received a couple of builds before recommending the Thermis Evo Pro but thought this may have been at the lower end of the scale.

Im looking to be gaming at 2560 x 1440p with a new GTX1060.

Whats the temp difference like between that and the Matterhorn Pure Edition?

I am partial to Thermalright True Spirit 140 rev.A It cools with in a couple degrees of the very best, has offset base with 69mm center CPU toward PCIe sockets on most motherboards, and is about as quiet as any cooler can be. It's stock TY-147A fan is one of if not the best in it's class, idling at 300rpm and going up to 1300rpm.

True Spirit 140 Power has slightly better extreme cooling, but is taller and reaches 75mm toward PCIe from center of CPU.

Really, it depends on your budget.
There are some very good cooler in the £35-55.00 range.
