I've the Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler, but it only has one fan and two clips which was provided to install it to the motherboard.

I would like to install another fan on the other side of the heatsink for a better airflow, but Alpenföhn only provided two clips which is used for one fan, how would I install the other fan onto the other side of the heatsink?

Push 1 zip tie through the hole in fan corner, thread through heatsink, then either tough another fan or use another cable tie to secure and cut off what you don't need. Do this for all corners.

I'll use this method if Alpenföhn doesn't offer another two fan clips

If the fans are run full load, will it not fall off? Will the zip tie not melt if temperature is high? Also no disadvantages of using zip tie to secure the fans onto the heatsink?

Zip tie is the same as cable tie?

Alpenfohn are planning to release the fan that is currently bundled with the Pure separately and that will come with two extra wire clips.

Do you know when it will release?

They told another forum member two weeks, four weeks ago. lol

I'll be using the zip-tie method when I change my Matterhorn fans as the clips won't fit (slightly deeper chassis)

Yeah that was me :p. They did say in two weeks about a month ago so I'll ask them tomorrow again.

Yes mate, zip tie is same as cable tie, I call them cables ties too because I'm Brittish! :p If your heatsink is getting hot enough to melt plastic you have more things to worry about. Cable ties do the job just don't look as good as fan clips and are probably a right bugger to remove. xD

What do you mean by this?

I'm replacing my fans with another brand of fan. The fan chassis is slightly deeper than the supplied Alpenfoehn fan so the Alpenfoehn clips won't fit.

So I'll be using the zip-tie method as detailed.

And I'm British however I apologise for my 'americanisms', I have quite a few friends from the US and they've taken hold.

Going dual fans will only drop temp 1-2c.

Are you having a cooling problem or just want to add another fan / change fans?
