Hi all

I'll be upgrading my system to 12GB of memory on either an Asus P6X58DE or Gigabyte GAX58a UD3R (Rev 2) with an i7 950 processor (LGA 1366).

As I'll be using all 6 memory sockets does anyone know of a good CPU cooler of sufficient height which does not foul the first memory socket as I'll be using Corsair Dominator sticks.

I've trawled the various CPU cooler websites and I've run out of options. I'll only use the stock cooler if I REALLY have to.

Thanks

Jonno

Is it better to have a single fan pushing or pulling on a heatsink like that?

I've got mine pushing, but can't help but feel that a negative air pressure forcing air in through the heatsink would be more efficient than positive air pressure trying to force it's way out through the same lump... Just wanted an oppinion before fiddling around with it :)

otherwise, yeah, a cooler like that would do the job nicely I'm running corsair dominator with an Ultra120 (very similar size/shape) and even with the fan on the RAM side, it doesn't even come close to the modules :)

The thermalright ultra would be a good choice, used one on my asus p6t dlx v2 with ocz reaper ram, (even taller than dominators), had no issues with ram slots being blocked.

In the pic above, i had my ram in the wrong slots when i assembled the system, but it did let me know that 12gb would fit.
