cpu cooler

My Ac Freezer 64 Pro on my opty 148 clocked at 2.8ghz in Smartguardian is showing 28/29c idle and 41c load! i have a panaflo m1A sitting in my room doing nothing so i'm considering jumping to a Xp-120 thoughts on this? will my temps really drop much lower than they already are?

No harris, I doubt it.
The 22c idle temps reported seem suspect, most cases are higher than 22c(most rooms are around 20c) so unless they have the case next to a windows and are using 120mm delta fans 22c seems doubtful.
As someone else said they were getting temps of 23c idle using a temp probe that wasnt fitted correctly, when they actually checked with software it was reporting 40c+

No its true, I seen my chip idle @22°C a few times, it's my first A64 so all the rumours I heard about them running cool are indeed true. I do have a monster case though.

Full load right now:

Chipset - 29°C
Opteron 146 - 34°C
Mosfets - 32°C
Hard Disk - 24°C

I dont doubt it has been 22c, mine has been 19c on the stock cooler. But i am saying it was probably in a very cold room (mine was about 10c, window open and the sidepanel off)

how do you get the hard disk temperature or do you need a sensor on it?
Hi,

No MBM5 has an option to detect your HDD temps. It seems all modern hard-disks have built-in sensors (maybe part of S.M.A.R.T?) so you just need a suitable monitoring program (Like MBM5 or other?) that allows you to select custom readings. . .
