Thanks for your help. I'm thinking the fan should face the the rear. But it'll be facing my exhaust fan. Is that ok?

Nah, have fan over the ram slots, blowing through the heatsink and out the back of the case.

That cooler comes with a PWM Y Splitter. Could I connect a Y Splitter to that splitter to connect to my case fans?

Yes, but there are a few limitations.
Motherboard fan headers are rated for up to 1 amp total load so all fans combined need to be less than 1 amp.
If using PWM control all fans must be PWM.
If all fans are PWM you can use a PWM splitter with PSU power. This allows you to use more than 1 amp total to the fans.

I was gonna use all PWM fans. Do I need a splitter with a power connector if required?

My brother uses a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO and it does the job at cooling his FX-6300 (quietly too). I think anything would be better than the screaming stock AMD cooler he was previously using. The TX3 EVO also faces the correct way and pushes air towards the back of the case.

This Alpenföhn cooler looks like it also fits the correct way and should do the job:
