Hi, so i finally got all my parts for my pc and i got a bundle from OCUK which included the motherboard RAM, CPU, CPU cooling and thermal compound. So as to the question, the Cooling plate on the Has the companys thermal compund on it and i was simply wondering if there was any need to use any of the thermal compound.

Many thanks in advance

Most (if not all) heat sinks come with pre applied thermal paste so you'll be fine using the one that comes with the heat sink. However, if the heat sink is removed from the socket and contact with the CPU is broken then the seal will be broken and the thermal paste will need to be cleaned off using a specialised cleaner (be careful about this) and new thermal paste will need to be applied. However the thermal paste you have may transfer heat better than the pre applied paste so if you need better temperatures for overclocking etc, you may wish to use your own.

Thanks :)
