Hello, just wondering if anyone might know the cause of my CPU voltage offset switching to auto?. Well know bug or summat maybe?

I had loads of crashing yesterday and the day before and i was thinking it was my graphics cards overheating cause its really hot here atm, but after underclocking them and a bit of poking around in the bios i noticed my offset was on auto.

I have 2 profiles in my bios, one has a .1v offset for 4.8ghz and the other has a .16v offset for 4.9. I had a quick look in the bios at what voltage it was running at on auto, it was using 1.45v in the bios under partial load, so god knows how much it was going upto under full load.

Yeah i updated the Bios right away when i bought it, the thing is i manually set the offset voltage, and its saved as a profile, i just have no idea why it would decide to turn it self to auto and try to fry my chip.

Yeah i was messing with my new graphics cards, i was crashing it a lot finding the right combo of mem and core speed, so i guess one of them times maybe the bios decided to reset. Tis strange that it only reset the offset voltage though.

yh,it can bork the bios settings sometimes

id say that's what it was, pays next time to load your oc profile again after any tinkering just to be sure

It took me a while figuring out that these new cards sumhow get their voltage from the core offset mV. So i was finidng the best core speed then dropping the voltage and forgetting it would just crash the vram lol.

I dont like this new overclock system on these cards with the offset and the boost speeds, gimme seperate vmem voltage again and ill be happy.

Yeah, they have a single offset now, that from what i can work out gives power to your mem and core, cause if ya drop it with a high mem speed it becomes unstable, and same for the core.

The core speed is always changing in game aswell going up and down when theres less load on it, i dont like that, cause when i had that enabled on my 7950 it used make it less stable. As soon as hte load goes aabove 50% i want it to just go full speed and stay at that rather then going up and down all over.

I guess its just saving power and making the card last longer, but im already overclocking it, it should know they aren't my priorities :)

I have my own overclock profiles i switch between when needed, so i dont want the card doing it for me.
