CPU Decision

I'm in a similar position to OP and i'm waiting for the Zen 5 3d processors to drop in Sept before launching into a whole system upgrade (going to reuse my current GFX card till the Dec/Jan).

I’d be surprised if we see the X3D parts before this time next year. Maybe sept 2025. I’d expect new graphics card towards the end of the year.

Do they really take that long to come out after the non X3D processors?'

Edit - just checked and the 7x00 processors came out on the 27th of September 2022 and the 7800X3D came out in Jan 2023 so 8 months after the first lot. That's some time after the launch

AMDs release schedule is probably pretty chokka.

I believe AMD said that was too long of a wait and they are targeting a quicker release this time. The rumour is that they are getting ready to launch it alongside the 870 chipset in Sept/Oct and a few tech specs have started to leak already which is good news imo.

Sept 2022 to Jan 2023 is 4 months not 8.
 
I am sure they will want to milk the initial hype before releasing the X3D variant too soon.

As long as you are already on AM5 no problems. For the people who are holding off on a platform upgrade, I would not miss out on any decent mobo deal, just grab a 7500F/7600/7600X for the time being, as they are fairly cheap nowadays.

Definitely this. Don't want to splurge out on a whole system upgrade, but feel the 8086k is really starting to struggle. Contemplating a 7600X as a "cheap" upgrade, hoping some bundles or price drops occur over the next couple of weeks...
