Are they any other differences between cpu's, I currently have an i5 760 that clocks up to the 4.2 mark, is there any other noticeable differences between this and the current cpu's that can overclock to the 5ghz mark, that would make a new chip faster

The new cpu like the 4670k will be a big step up from an I5 760 here are a few comparissons.

Also i notice from your spec that you dont have an ssd they are a must in a system theese days and would advise you to get one. Having 4gb of ram is not enough if you game 8gb is the what you want.

But is that just not down to the clock speed, all the other letters and numbers on the cpu's are still the same

A 4670k is faster than a 760 at the same clock speed. However, the difference isn't enormous so I'd say stick with what you have, get an SSD though as they make a huge difference.
A 760 @ 4.2 will be about the same as a 4670k at stock. Except the 4670k will be on a board that supports newer stuff, if you care about that.

No, it really isn't. I went from a i5 760 clocked at 4.2Ghz to my 4670k at 4.5Ghz and the difference is dissapointing to say the least. Yes it's a bit quicker in benchmarks but day to day and gaming uses it's hardly noticeable. I wished i kept my 760 and skipped this generation too. Current Haswells seem to be very poor clockers too.
