"CPU Fan Error - Press F1 to Resume"

So, earlier i turned the Desktop on and after a little sway the fan rotated fine. However, for the first time that fan error message never displayed, it went right through to "starting windows". Great!

I turned the Desktop off and tried it again another 2 times, same thing happened, going right through and running normally. 4th time however it did the usual swaying and never fully rotated to start itself off. 5th time it did the same thing, same goes for the 6th. By the 7th time i gave up and manually tilted the Desktop to get it working so i could come on here and post about it.

When it rotates fine, the message doesn't show up (now got it in the right connection so as expected), but when it doesn't rotate enough to get itself running the message displays. Could this be a power issue? I don't want to throw the towel in and call "faulty product" without trying out some more tests, but i don't know what it is that i could try out. As for the RPM/"running too slow to start" mentioned earlier, how do i go about setting a minimum fan speed for this product so on start-up it will spin a bit faster?

Hmm, good point. I've got the LNA one installed which does 900rpm at 13.2db, might have to take it out and see how it goes.

EDIT: I know 900rpm may sound low but it's all i have ever needed as my load temps never reach past 50c and my idle sits around 25-30c. As i've said before, a brilliant cooler aside from this weird problem!

Personally I don't bother with the LNA, as I found the fans quiet enough already (or at least you can't hear them above my 6950 :p And if your temps are still quite low, the fans won't spin up much anyway.

Hi .. i just got a H50 cooler and i got the CPU Fan Error - Press F1 to Resume with the Corsair fan. so i got a new Akasa Ultra Quiet Viper Cool Fan and the Akasa PWM Fan Splitter Cable wired up and a still get the Error is there anything more i can do, i have got the ASUS Crosshair III Formula - AMD motherboard. Thanks... steve

He's not really hi-jacking. He's got the same issue as you and the solution is the same. Just use the "CPU Fan" header. ASUS boards are fussy.

Would like to update; taken the noise reduction adaptor out and the fan is working perfectly now. It starts spinning immediately on start-up and i cannot notice any noise difference in a real-world setting, so all good then! Thanks.
