Cpu Fan error

Hi folks, i just built a new system today which comprises of:

Q6600
8gb ram
Asus p5q l
4870 1gb
corsair 620w

I currently have the stock intel heatsink and at bootup i get CPU fan error, I plugged the connection into the right 3 pin socked on the board and when i booted into windows my CPU temps were about 38 degrees C, nothing to be scared about.

Any suggestions? thanks

My stock intel HSF for my Q6600 had a 4 pin connector.

Check if you have cpu fan warning speed in your bios and lower it could be the fan just isn't spinning at full speed when booting.
