hi all, just a quick question. here are my specs-

phenom ii x4 965 be @4ghz
asus M4A88TD-V evo 880g motherboard
antec truepower modular 650w
4gb corsair xms3 ram
cooler master elite 430 windowed case
samsung bd-rom/dvd rw
arctic cooling 7 pro
2x samsung f3 spinpoint 1tb hdd's in raid0
GTX 470

I fitted the arctic cooler 7 about 2 weeks ago with no problems, but occasionally(probably 3 out of 5 times) when i turn on the system, during post, i get a few beeps, and a message saying cpu fan error, press F1 to continue.
the fan is spinning properly, and there are no otheroptions, so i just press f1 and windows starts completely as noraml.
There are no problems at all other than the actual message appearing.
Everything is plugged in firmly.

I've been ignoring it, but thought i would check if it will be a problem.

cheers

yeah its all working fine, apart from the message during boot.
Everythings plugged in ok, temps are fine(very good actually), fan is spinning as it should(very quiet too), it's just the message

Providing you have connected the Fan to the correct header then this is caused by the Fan running a little slower than what the BIOS expects and thus you get the Fan error. You can set it to ignored in the BIOS if you wish and you won't see the message again but this has obvious drawbacks if the Fan actually fails :D

that is my undestanding too, not sure though. i might change it back, and put up with the message, as it doesn't cause any problems.
Any ideas on how else i would change it, or is it ok to put up with it?

What fan profile have you set in bios? Options on asus boards are usually, standard, silent and turbo, i use turbo then calibrate it inside windows with fan expert in asus ai suite.

Well after the error appears in BIOS and you press F1, everything goes back to normal :p Just only happens during a cold boot. I bought that cable since I got fed up with pressing F1 every time I booted the PC.

i'm using AI suite as well, i think i've got standard in bios, but i always start AI suite when windiows has loaded anywy, using my user profile, which has the fan running at around 30% when idle. Although i don't notice much difference between 30% and 70% with the freezer 7 tbh.

PS, it would be handy if i could set AI suite to start with windows and automatically apply my profiles, is this possible?

Yeah, thats it, it's hardly the end of the world, just slightly annoying. I just didn't want to keep ignoring it and then one day it goes wrong and everyone says "well, you were warned):D
