i have rebuilt my rig to tidy up some cables and install a new cpu cooler. i finished the rebuiild and started the pc then this error came along. i suppose its something to do with the cpu fan socket, but the weird thing is it was where the cpu fan was plugged in before rebuilding my rig. only thing i replaced was the heatsink, from a gelid tranquillo to a megahalems. i used the gelid fan to try it out as my new fans hasn't arrived yet. my mobo is asus crosshair formula IV. anyone?

Plug the cpu fan into another mobo powered by the same psu etc. If it don't work the cooler is faulty, if it does you've messed up somewhere.

the cpu fan is spinning actually im idling at 15c at 3.4ghz. o.O hence the reason im wondering what the problem is. its also plugged in the cpu header.

Perhaps the fan is spinning too slowly to be registered by the motherboard.

Check in the BIOS settings for the CPU fan control and see if it's reducing the speed.

And while I'm here you need to find something different to monitor your CPU temperature.

Unless you're living somewhere very chilly, with the windows open, it ain't idling at 15 degrees centigrade.

Even the lowest temperatures on the best air coolers are always going to be above room temperature.

Unless your room is 5 degrees centigrade the temperature you're seeing is wrong.
