CPU fan spinning way fast!?

Hi all,

My CPU fan is running at 1900 - 1950 RPM constantly at idle?

I have this; https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sapphire-vapour-x-w-dual-fan-120mm-cpu-cooler-hs-001-sp.html

I don't know if i'm being incredible dumb, but the exhaust fan doesnt seem to be spinning nearly as fast and i can stop it spinning with a light touch...the LED is on so it is getting power?

The intake fan connector has 4 pins but the exhaust only has 2? Is it possible the pins have broken off?

Do I return the fan and request a new one from OC?

Would really appreciate the help.

Thanks:(

How have you got the fans on the cooler connected?

Looking at the image they should go into a splitter then plug into the motherboard slot, you ny need to enable PWM In the BIOS so this will ramp the fans when underload.

Both of the cooler's fans should have at least 3 wires. They'll likely have all 4 each and the joiner cable will just ignore one of the tach wires in position 3.

If you have a problem with the joiner cable and not with the fan connector you may be able to connect one of the fans to another PWM header.

Yeah, two wires into a splitter then into CPU slot on MOBO...the one thats not spinning only has two pins to plug into though. It seems like its only spinning due to the air coming out of the intake...:(

Where do I find the PWM under BIOS?

UPDATE:

So, i fiddled round with it whilst powered on, and If the connector sits at a certain angle, it slows the intake down massively, but the exhaust still doesn't spin?

Instead of 1900 RPM it now sits at around 12-1300RPM and is pretty much silent!

I'm pretty sure the connector is faulty, becuase the slightest touch just ramps the fan back up to 1900 RPM and is so loud!

Do I just contact Overclockers to get it replaced, it's probably not even 2 months old?

Thanks all for your replies so far!
