Hi

Currently have a 3900x and a Gigabyte Aorus Pro x570. I have a 4080 but doubt I'll get the best out of it with this CPU.

Any ideas on if it's okay or if there's a better solution? Not bothered with either Intel or AMD.

Thanks,

M.

I'd stick with what you have just now, until you notice the CPU genuinely holding you back. Definitely good boosts to be had with a 5800X3D or newer CPU, but the 3900 isn't some ancient relic. :D

I'm not suggesting it's the best solution but yes it made a noticeable difference going from a 3900X to an i7 12700K and not just with my 4080 but overall.

I'd go for an X3D processor for sure.

Thanks everyone - I'll take a look at the cost vs staying :D

I'm in a similar situation, same CPU as you, though my GPU is only a mid-ranged one (3070).

I may well upgrade the GPU before too long, and was wondering the same thing.

I may just drop in a 5950X, which will save me changing the rest of the system. Not 100% sure at the mo.

Yeah I may do the same though tempted to ditch the board, but from what I'm reading most motherboards, in the latest updated BIOS, have limited overclocking as well to 200MHz which mine definitely has (Aorus x570 Pro). So if I do that I may change CPU as well.
