i am thinking of the one of the cpu's, there all around the same price but witch is best for day to day computing

Athlon ii x4 640
Phenom ii x2 560
Phenom ii x4 840
there all around the same price. or for a littloe more i can get little brother of the hex cores the Phenom ii x6 1055t

the CPU of choice will be in use with.
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H
4GB (2x2gb) Kingston HyperX 1600Mhz
ATI Radeon HD 5830 Extreme 1024MB

any input would be nice.

There may be a price drop on Phenom II following Bulldozer release early/mid next month, for day to day use my 1055T has been excellent, reliable, quick and quiet. Otherwise Phenom II quad would be my choice from your list.

Like nkata has said, Bulldozer is out next month and so their should be a price drop in the next few weeks so maybe worth waiting. I would go for the Phenom ii x4 840 for normal daily computing.

Bulldozer is out next month, mid to late June like nkata said.

Note that the Phenom II X4 840 is actually an Athlon II X4 with the "Phenom" name. It's a bit faster than the Athlon II X4 640 due to being clocked 200 MHz higher.

Right now your choices should be between these, based on prices:

- Phenom II X2 555BE = £66
- Phenom II X4 840 (actually an Athlon II X4) = £74
- Phenom II X4 955BE = £84

To be honest any of them will do for day-to-day stuff but I don't think the 840 is worth thinking about - if you want to stretch to a quad core, get the 955BE. It's a proper Phenom II (with L3 cache) and its unlocked multiplier will let you get more life out of the chip in the future.

I would get an Athlon II X3 450 for around £55 to £60. However,Llano is also being released next month and this is basically an improved Athlon II with second generation Turbo Core, more cache for the quad cores and an IGP with between 160 to 400 shaders.
