CPU for a games-only comp

I'm trying to make up my mind which CPU I should go for when building my next computer.

Do I go for a guaranteed overclock Q6600, or a dual core 8500

This is for a games only computer - apart from the OS of course!

Sticking with XP Pro for now - but might upgrade to Vista, depending on the availability of drivers (recently built a Vista computer for my brother - had a nightmare with driver incompatability, mainly with WiFi hardware).

I'll probably do some moderate overclocking - but it's not a major requirement.

The e8500 for gaming and especially since the current batch of q6600 chips arent very good.

a faster dual core is better for gaming.

also the "guaranteed overclock" chips are just the same as normal chips.

Think I'll probably go for a C2D 8500 then, I like the idea that it reduces the current load on the mobo too.

Any tips on how to set the multiplier with the 8500?
