cpu for gaming

Ive just built a pc with the 6300fx and a 270x at stock and have to say im very surprised how well it plays the games inc bf4

Depends which board they've got with the i5.

Andd you should be getting more than 3.8GHZ... I got 4.4GHZ in like no effort at all on a 58 quid board and cheapish cooler.

Why would anyone buy an 80 quid H77 board lol.

I'd personally take the swap if I was only running an FX6300 at 3.8GHZ.

I would try re-clocking it. I have NEVER heard of a fx chip clock that badly. You should even be able to manage more on stock cooler! You should be capable of much more, especially considering you have a sabertooth.

This. Have a read of and post your settings in the 83x0 overclocking thread and you will almost certainly achieve higher clocks than 3.8 GHz. That is virtually no overclock at all, especially with an H100. You have a great board too. There is really little argument for taking a locked i5 if you can get to 4.4/4.5+ GHz on the FX chip.

Dunno if you'd manage more on the stock cooler, it's the crappy 95W TDP one.

Oh well, i wasnt suggesting he swap his h100 out for the stock cooler, just saying his mobo and cooler should make 4.5ghz easy and hitting a wall at 3.8 with any cooler at all sounds odd.
