My friend is going to japan next week and has offered to pick me up a cpu (conroe e6600). Firstly would it be cheaper and secondly would it work with a motherboard (Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 Socket 775) from the uk. Has any one else done this before.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Well considering AMD and Intel produce their chips in one country (us) and ship them worldwide I see no reason why it would not work. As for price, it may be cheaper, but then again it may not I don't know about the prices of pc parts there. :)

Pc parts are the same all over the world, so it would work fine with the mb bought in the UK. I have purchased parts on trips to the USA due to better pricing over there. The only problem that exists is that warranties are not necessarily worldwide and most often you will have to RMA the items in the country or area of the world as it was purchased.
