CPU heating problems - i5 - 3570k Ivybridge

Update on moving to the new case, there was a lot of dust, I remember cleaning the thing out about 8 months ago, but I clearly didn't do a very good job. The new case is fantastic and already seems much cooler, there was also quite a lot of dust in the CPU fan and clearing that obviously would have helped, I've reapplied thermal paste which was fairly worn out and obviously reseated the CPU fan when moving to the new case.

The stats:
The CPU now sits around 27C when idle and hasn't managed to get over 53C while being on full load for about 30 mins. So overall I think this has been a very successful job, thanks for all of your suggestions guys and I think I've learned a valuable lesson today about regular cleaning haha.

Also thanks for point out the high voltage, I have no idea why it would default to such a high amount, doubt I would have ever noticed was it not pointed out.
I've overridden the default setting now which was at 1.8V for some reason and set it to be 1.2V while I'm on a 4.2GHz overclock.

1.8v is massively out of spec for air cooling, even 1.5v would be higher than all but a few reckless souls would consider.
Sounds like you've had a good result. My 3570k also runs very hot (100C) but I am too scared to try reseating the heatsink etc as I'll probably bodge it and end up with a broken heatsink or unstable system. I think what I'll do is wait until there is a reasonably priced upgrade available and then go for it as I can then replace it if it all goes to pot.
