Hello everyone, carrying on from my 8800GTX thread the other day and you guys being so helpfull i need your advice once more

Currently got a amd dual core 4200Ghz @ 2.2ghz ... Socket AM2 (940) i was wondering if anyone could give me any insite into a better processor for me please ?

That's not a bad processor, all said. How much would you be willing to spend? Is the 6000+ in your price range? Can you overclock your current one?

Ive had a quick luck i could afford the quad core jobbies, but i really dont understand CPU's hense me asking on here Lol.. What would you sorta go for ?

if it was me, i would go for a black edition AMD chip ... and clock the bejesus out of it ...

I would just clock the current one, see what you can get out of it before you start spending money that you don't need to.

Have a go at clocking the current one first, I'm sure you will get 2.8-3.0ghz out of it and at 3.0gh I don't think you would see a massive difference in an upgrade anyway especially in gaming.

The thing thats on my mind is that my new gfx card is showing low fps *My mate has the same gfx card* But gets miles better frames. Could it be my motherboard thats bottle necking the card ??

Its a Gigabyte model number : GA-M55PLUS-S3G rev A2.

His is nearly brand new, he's got intel duo E66.

I have 2GB Geil low Latency Ram in my machine, He's got 2gb Cell Shock ?? Supposidly made in germany ? ...
