My pc blue screened yesterday with a code of either 7E or 7D (it rebooted too quick) and then on start up it was stuck in cpu init with the green/amber/red lights all on.

Swapped the QX9650 for a E2160 and it booted straight away, put the QX9650 back in and hey presto instant boot.....

Today its done the same thing, blue screened on me (same code) then restarted but this time i noticed it got stuck in a init rom cycle until i powered it off then it went back to cpu init....

Just put the E2160 in and its booted 1st time again ..... Anyone got any ideas :confused::confused:

One of my raid drives does a lot of whining and abit of clicking when it blue screens or i get a failed o/c but wouldnt of thought this would stop it posting?

Flashed to 1207 and this time it deleted some boot files when updating.
Threw the QX9650 back in and it booted up saying new cpu detected .. (which it never did last time)

Only problem is it still says 'Error! the cpu core to bus ratio or vid config has failed' when ever i change the multiplier

Did you clear cmos after you flashed the bios?

hi, I used to get that on my old maximus , if the vcore was not high enough for overclock on the qx9650.

Mine says that too, just dissable it in bios and it will just boot up anyways. thik its ignore F1 error or sommit like that.

I get it no matter what i do, even if i do 10 x 200 with auto or 1.25V

Cheers, im not the only one then and will look for this in my bios :)

Flash to 1207 and clear CMOS. Reboot, hit Del. and set eryting you need, job done.:). If you wnat something difference flash to Rampage BIOS and Im sure you will have more fun.

More memory timings to play with, gives you the option to change trd (performance level for ram-sure maximus doesn't have that) and i think thats it for options.

However - a lot of people (including me) have reported better overclocking and lower volts needed to achieve so.

Brilliant thread over at XS detailing everything you need to know - huge archive of information, overclock settings etc. Its in the intel section. Would link it but on my phone! Easy to find though :)

I've not yet had a blue screen since flashing to 1207 so must have been a bios issue.
Will have a red up on XS about the rampage bios, cheers :)
