but i would go for the pro version of the mobo, slightly over what you said but hey ho

As above, i5 2500k and the RAM, but the Foxconn P67A board. Slightly cheaper but you can have x8 on thr second pci-e slot for crossfire.

Are you considering the i7 950 looking at your sig?

I was considering the i7, yeah, purely for triple channel mem. But, its more about bang for buck and I've seen a lot about the 2500k and it does look great for the money. Does the pro version of the motherboard have Sli? Im looking at either the 560 or 570 depending on cash.

Cheers

First of all if gaming is the priority then 2500K will outperform the i7 950. SB at best offers x8/x8 where as X58 would offer x16/x16 but you would struggle to tell the difference in real life performance, benchmarking may give you a few percent increase.

Again the difference between dual channel and tripple channel RAM would be negligible in real life performance.

The above is what I'd say is best bang for buck for gaming right now. Adding 4GB RAM later would improve your photoshop experience.

As for which motherboard, how likely are you to go for a dual card setup in the future? and also what card have you got at the moment/may get?

The Foxconn P67A-S Intel P67 is certianly the best bang for buck P67 board at the moment.

If photoshop is also a main priority then you'd benefit from getting 8GB RAM either now or adding 4GB later.

First of all, would just like to say thanks to everybody for their input, it is really helpful.

One of my plans for the end of this year was to go SLi so its pretty important to me, but I was going to wait to see how the 560 performs compared to the 570 in regards to the price. Im very tempted by the ATi cards but the drivers have always been a problem for me in the past.

Okay, so just bringing this up again as my funds have gone up slightly. Im dead set on the 2500k even though a few mates are discouraging me because of DRM. Doesnt bother me in the slightest, so I'm going SB.

I'm now looking at a budget of £400 inc. delivery for a motherboard, 2500k and memory. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to go SLi 560 at the end of february and I need a board with good overclocking potential for when the day comes that I'd like to overclock the 2500k.

Cheers

could get 8GB or ram to bring it closer to your max budget.

Cheers Stulid, I was looking at 8GB because Ive seen Photoshop likes 8gig or more to run super smoothly, but its not necessity at the moment. May add it later if I need it.

I've heard good things about the Foxconn but my only concern is the amount of fans that can be plugged in. Am I right in saying fans are plugged into the motherboard? Its just that I have a Storm Sniper case with 5 fans.

Cheers
