Considering upgrading to either 5800x3d,7700x,i5 13600kf or i7 13700kf with a motherboard recommendation.It's primarily for gaming@3440×1440,but may be used for some light sound/video editing eventually.memory recommendations would be useful too,not too fussed whether intel is ddr4 or 5.not looking for absolute high end mobo,just good quality build,maybe upto around £250 mark.wifi not required.good m2 heatsinks could be useful,as would 6 sata ports.a cooler recommendation would be useful too.will be paired up with a rtx4080(hopefully.lol).

ASRock Z790 Riptide? Has 8 SATA ports, is DDR5, Z790 so it won't need a BIOS update for 13th gen: £240.

I'd get the 13600K rather than the KF, at least at OCUK the price difference is tiny, so you might as well have the IGP for troubleshooting/back-up purposes (and the decoding/encoding might come in handy).

The case is a corsair 760t.Why you ask ,out of curiosity?Does the i5 come with a hsf?Don't recall it actually being mentioned in the description,though I assume it does,being a retail chip,hence the cooler recommendation request as well

I'm good with either.I have an aio at the mo,just can't remember what it is,cooler master,maybe,but I bought it for a socket 1150 systemUntil I check what it is,I'll assume it won't be compatible with current sockets.As for price,not too fussed as long as it's good and not ridiculously pricedIf you know what case it is you know it's size limitations although @Tetras does have a bit of a case fetish

Thermalright peerless assassin 120 se is a excellent cooler for the money.
I would forget about the 4080 at current prices, there is likely to be price cuts coming next year for it as no one is buying it while Nvidia will likely release a much stronger 4080ti in its place.
If you wanted something now then this isn't bad in the current market.

For the CPU, I would recommend the Intel Core i7-10700KF, as it offers great performance for gaming and some light video/audio work. It is also more than capable of handling 3440×1440 gaming. For the motherboard, I would suggest the MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus ATX Motherboard. It has 6 SATA ports, good M.2 heatsinks, and supports the Intel 10th generation CPUs. It is also within your budget at around £250. For the RAM, I would recommend 16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. This should provide enough memory for gaming and some light video/audio work. Finally, for a cooler, I would recommend the Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition. It is a great budget cooler that should provide adequate cooling for your build.
