CPU/Motherboard/Memory Spec Request

The Q9550 is currently not being used, so I am going to sell it on, it works perfectly and overclocks well, I am just looking to bring my current gaming rig up to speed.

You strike me as beyond moronic just for that post alone.

If said gamer doesn't overclock what's the point in K +P67? Show me the statistics stating that every gamer overclocks.

Ah the old feign ignorance. Didn't you think that seeing as he's asking for pretty much a new system a cooler -might just- be needed?

Do yourself a favour, put the shovel down, and grow up.

Look i'm here to help people, not to engage clowns like you, just look at my post history. I will not let factually poor advice go without comment regardless of who it is commenting.

Your continued statements make it worse, for you, as anyone informed will tell.

Honestly from looking at it....i probably should increase my budget a little. Its not a big deal, its just something i'll have to work out. Thankfully I'll be selling up my Q9550 around about the same time so that could pay for a good cooler :D. And yes I overclock, I really would not except anything other than a K model :D...I should have said that, sorry guyz and galz

I think that is wise, given how long you are going to have the system, it is worth a little more.

Fair enough about the overclocking, tbh you didn't need to mention it as the majority of gamers today overclock anyway:D

As I said, moron.

You've failed to quantify any of your statements and are now trying to make others look like idiots when it's coming off as quite the reverse.

You talk about trying to help people, yet here you are attacking me. You offered one spec and forgot a vital component - perhaps that irritated you and explains why you're trying to pick everyone else's ideas (or is it just mine?) to pieces.

If you want to help do so, and drop this whole "Cookeh is useless and can't do anything, lulz" rubbish. I've been around here longer than you, I've helped far more people than you and you're the only one who's ever passed comment - so forgive me for thinking you're just blowing hot air most of the time.

Don't get me wrong, you know your stuff and offer good advice (still indebted to you for the info on HD Audio), don't ruin it by being a *****.

MSI P67A-C45 Intel P67 £104.99 inc VAT
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit £29.99 inc VAT
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz OEM £161.99 inc VAT

This is what I decided I'll probably end up going with, so now is the question, what cooler should I get for overclocking the i5. All that I ask is that it is quieter than my Freezer 7 pro :D

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM
MSI P67A-C45 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) B3
Thermalright Silver Arrow CPU Cooler
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz

350 basically or close enough. That sounds like a good solid setup, so I have decided to make this my final build, thanks to everyone who helped me decide today on what to get. :D

just remember the ram & cpu are special offer only, which expires Wed morning ;)

From what I read its overkill for even the i7-2600k

it's pretty much overkill fullstop :p

tbh, given how cool SB's run, & they do, ide be inclined to go for something less herculean, i mean, i'm currently using an old Thermalright Ultra 120 on my SB at 4.5GHz, and thats with a damn quiet Nexus 22.8dbA/36CFM fan on it.
