Hi Guys,

I recently posted a question here- http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18387744

^about my processor CPUTIN temps being very high. Concencus was this was nothing to worry about.

Since then I have run Intelburn and my i3-2100 reached 82degrees (celcius) as a max temp) which I thought was very high.

What is bothering me however is the fact that in Ai booster (P8h67-m pro motherboard) and realtemp is telling me that my cpu speed is 1648mhz one minute and then it changes to 3127mhz the next.

Is this because it utilizes one core and then switches to two? The multiplyer changes too...

Any ideas would be helpful thankyou-I have been out of this I.T. game for a while.

The speed going up and down is called Speedstep™, when the CPU isnt doing much, it down clocks itself and this saves power/heat.

Thankyou stulid, you have answered both my questions lately :)

Its gone from 1638mhz to 2345mhz to 3132mhz in a few seconds and just caught my eye as slightly odd. I need to read the box next time :)

As a side note is my 82degree temps on Intelburn far too high?
I have ordered a Sythe fan to replace stock cooler (had issues as my case is micro atx and max hsf height is 90mm!)

82C at what is its stock speed is to high, are you sure the stock cooler is mounted correctly?

Yes the stock cooler was mounted correctly-made sure from
Underneath the motherboard.

However this issue is now resolved since buying some new thermal paste and reapplying?!

Tested again intelburn and max temps were 63degrees! Same stock heatsink as before.
Perhaps rubbish stock thermal paste im not sure but it has worked now.

Thanks for the replies stulid.
