You have the EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep) enabled in the bios I think. With that enable, the multipler will drop to 6 when idle and will increase back to full speed when under load...this is normal. The tech is apparent design for reducing power consumption.
Sorry, I made the assumption it was an Intel CPU without looking at the screenshot carefully enough...I do apologies. But I guess Cool "n" Quiet is pretty much the AMD's equivalent of Intel's EIST right?The op is using a AMD CPU which uses Cool "n" Quiet to reduce the multiplier, also he is running the cpu at full load.
