cpu or gpu folding?

what will give me more points?

folding on a [email protected] using the standard console client

or folding on a 2400XT @ stock using the gpu console client

pc will not be on all the time

both will not be an option as the pc is also for everyday use

2400XT will give you about 200-240 ppd
e6300@stock will give you 900ppd avg with SMP

The numbers are ish

At stock, I'd say 250-400 would be typical. SMP, probably 900-1000. But one console client and the GPU client would probably total 500-600 and would be easier to keep running than SMP. Your choice

(edit) How often is the machine on? A stock 6300 will need to be folding most of the time to make SMP deadlines.

my workstation is a [email protected]
1,920pts WU's - 840ppd (54h required) 5day deadline
1,760pts WU's - 1200ppd (36h required) 4day deadline

standard WU - 100-350ppd per core

PC need to be on at lease once overnight plus 9-5 to meet deadlines

i dont know how often it will be on as its at my aunties house, it may be about 5 hrs each day

No good for SMP then, sadly. I'd go with one standard client and one GPU.
