There are a lot of tweaks to improve frame rates in COD, Google search COD4 tweaks and you will see what I mean....it really does make a huge difference when playing multiplayer

they all seem like quake engine games to me the way they behave i think they probably are but they dont want to admit it

anyway the point is it is a basic engine with scripted eye candy on top

not a good measure of a systems gfx power

They are still essentially the Q3 engine... whether they started on an engine from scratch (which I doubt) the sheer amount of time they had spent working with the Q3 engine on the early CoD games only would have had them remake it anyway.
