Hey all,
I recently got an e8400 (3.0Ghz) and wanted to see how much I could overclock it (on air).
So I went into the bios and set the multiplier to 9 and the frequency to 350mhz (As opposed to the original 333mhz) to get me 3150Mhz.
Not much of a boost, but this is my first overclock
Then I went and put it up from 350mhz to 380mhz to get 3420Mhz.
When I got into Vista - I loaded up Coretemp and checked the temperature...
It was around 90 - 95C on both cores AND RISING :O
I rapidally restarted the PC and put the frequency back to 333mhz
My CPU is currently at 50C on both cores - is this an okay temperature... Just not sure why it went so high - is there something more to overclocking than just putting up the frequency?
Thanks,
Marky
