CPU Overheating

Hi All,

I have a OCUK system, a Titan Exodus with an i5 760 at 4ghz. Just recently it has started crashing when things get hectic.

In the bios it says the CPU temp is 93 degrees which is way too hot. Ruunning real temp at idle it's 78. I have checked the fans are all working so was wondering what the issue could be.

Is the heatsink not working or does it need reseating with new thermal paste etc.

The only change I have made is to add a HD6970 to the system rather than the what it came with however have had that far longer than the issue.

Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated

Idle at 78.C is very hot!
Is it still under warranty? if so, open a thread in the customer services thread for advice.
You will probably have to remount the cooler.
If you dont have thermal paste, buy some MX-4, its one of the best and also cheap.

This most likely! Just needs reseating, maybe you knocked it when expanding GPU?

Is it still under OCUK warranty? get in touch if so otherwise get some thermal paste, clean and reseat.

EDIT: +1 for MX-4

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, unfortunately it's out of warranty September last year.

Will take a look at removing the heatsink and reseating.

Cheers
