Please help guys, my pc seems to have grown a strong dislike for doing video

The spec is:

Asus M2N-CM DVI

AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 6000+

4GB memory (2 x 2GB)

Diamond max 23 320GB sata Hard drive

Currently running Windows 10 64bit

and now also running a Radeon HD5450 (1GB) graphics card

A couple of years ago it used to run Win 7 and fly, no issues. Installed a new hard drive and windows 8 and it had all sorts of issues (hanging/ rebooting and running at a snails pace etc)

Fast forward to now and its running Windows 10, and when ever you run Chrome, IE, or MS Edge the Task manager shows the CPU running at 99%/100% pretty much all the time. ESP if the page has any video content

Thinking it may be graphics related I went from running onboard graphics to fitting the HS5450 card. No difference.

Can run Dreamweaver + photoshop together and the CPU usage sits at less than 20% but as soon as I open Chrome, IE, or MS Edge bang we are back upto 100% cpu usage and things become very slow.

The pc never hangs, just becomes unusable for a while and video (within one of the above) freezes, however, using media player to play video/ music doesn't stress the cpu at all.

Running in safe mode and the PC doesn't struggle at all (cpu usage is about 2%)

I've ran the AMD checker and it shows the drivers for the Motherboard and graphics card are both upto date

Any help or advice appreciated

Many thanks

Andy

When its behaving like this is the disk usage also at 100% by any chance?

EDIT : Also is it the browser itself that's using 100% when you have it open or is something else in task manager raising that high as you open a browser?

Hi Harry, it's the browser that uses between 30% and 60%, disk usage is normally pretty low apart from initial start up of program's

Alright :) do you have a lot of extensions or things running on the browsers and have you tried running with them turned off? Google seems to relate most of it to a virus however
