CPU performance Spike/Lag/Choppy/Judder, help

Jinxster, p.s, to add to my last two posts, @Jinxster or anyone, I have just noticed that I have a driver exactly like the one you said mate for wifi and guess what, its wifi I am using too, you think it could be that, I have had that on my mind for ages too man ??

I see its using a September 2015 driver from qualcomm Atheros.

EDIT UPDATE @9.26pm UK, WOW WOW WOW, Strangely enough I have just had a quick look at that wifi Closely in task manager and the minute or second I click on different things etc on the desktop the wifi usage shoots through the roof infact off the scale, hmmmmm, I wonder if this could be whats causing it, I never use wifi, but I wouldn't have expected Asus to support terrible wifi on such a high end board, hmmm, I don't have my extension cable yet for Ethernet so I cant even try that, hmmm :(

leave task manager open all the time on the processes tab and when it spikes look to see which one did it.
id be looking at start up items and hardware drivers/software, especially the software that gets installed with the mouse/keyboard.
also check you have the latest chipset, sata, lan drivers blah blah and that for ide/ata controllers that ultra dma 6 is enabled.

how do I do this mate, you said "and that for ide/ata controllers that ultra dma 6 is enabled." where do I find or change dma 6 mate ??

and where do I get the drivers, I take it you are referring too "IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLLERS / STANDARD SATA AHCI CONTROLLER", correct mate ?? (if so, I clicked on that in device manager but no options are really there to change and its just an old Microsoft driver too from 2006 :confused:

under ide ata/atapi controllers in device manager go into the properties of each ata channel. (advanced settings tab)

also someone said about your wifi. disable it in device manager and see if you still get cpu spikes when doing things.

in device manager under ata/atapi controllers there is no advanced options tab mate, plus the driver installed is just a Microsoft one from back in 2006 as I said, does that sound right ?

For the last umpteen years, most people have been using SATA/AHCI exclusively and won't be seeing anything like that.

It looks like you've left IDE emulation enabled in the bios or even worse, you have a mobo with IDE ports?? :p

noo its a p8p67 using ahci with win7. maybe its changed for newer os's, if its still there it might be under disk drives. anyway from exp if dma isnt on for a harddrive it will give stutters, freezes and cpu spikes

Ok, got possibly maybe, just maybe something to go on here, I really hope so as this has done my brain right in now :(

Have a look at what happened earlier to me (see picture),

I happened to be sitting typing away, just on a single page minding my own business (pc was quiet and smooth at this point) and next thing I heard the CPU fan Rev right up as usual with this issue, well worse I would say than before, but the fan Rev's didn't go down like they normally would do, so I very quickly pounced straight onto "windows task manager" and I noticed instantly the CPU and Ram resources it was drinking heavy, NEARLY 100% from the CPU, please see that attached photo for info.

Now, I don't know if this was and is the main and only culprit but if it was how can I stop this happening again please ?

I actually quite like IE for some things to be honest, rest of time I use FF or Chrome though, any ideas ?

Its strange how it just kicked up a fuss like that out of the blue though, I had already changed from using IE x64 to IE x86 (32) just for the sake of it earlier tonight, but I have tried these things before, this is the very first time though that I haven't been froze out for a good few seconds and was able to see what was going on in windows task manager, before this I was getting froze out and by time I got in few seconds later everything had calmed down etc.

Any Ideas people ?

#30 bin internet explorer and use firefox with adblock addon(flash ads use cpu time). i never liked IE it would stall a lot and even more so when it did some kind of check on the url before loading the page.
#31 you could have googled this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...e/bf3dc73e-0b05-4935-920c-22409323f258?auth=1

thanks mate, yeah I found that link too, I guess we can say let this be a little lesson for other folks as there are bound to be lots of others either just now or in future with this problem.
