Hi

I recently upraded my CPU and put my old one in my brothers computer.
When it was in my computer it was overclocked to 3.2 from 2.5 (Intel E5200) but when i took it out and put it in my brothers computer it won't overclock past 2.85.

His motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-945GCM-S2L, 550W PSU.
He has tried resetting the CMOS via the motherboard but still no luck.

at 2.95 it is stable in windows but when he plays a game after 1/2 hour his comp freezes and locks up and anything past 3GHz it won't even boot.

Any help?

Thanks:)

voltage is set as "normal" in BIOS (1.25v I think) and temps are 13c at 2.90 overclock & 24c playing WoW, 9c at stock & 20c on WoW , taken readings off everest and BIOS. he had a pentium d in before at 3.1 ghz

Built quite a few 945 'stock' systems, can't say i had much luck over 350 -ish FSB with any when i was having a play, and thats with various brands. I had an ASrock 945 board that just about supported core 2, never went past 300FSB with any cpu.

Something's wrong with those temps if theyre celcius.

Dont know, but he has a coolermaster case or something, so he has about 5 fans built into the case then his CPU cooler.

He tried Prime95 and his temps went up to 39c
