CPU Push Pull config?

My CPU has a CM Hyper 212 Plus cooler on it, currently with one pull (pulling air into the heatsink, from the front of the case) fan. I wish to attach the second push fan (well.. it pulls air out of the heatsink and towards the back of the case, towards rear exhaust fan...). My question is, should I make the fans exactly the same, so that they have the same airflow performance? or will any 120mm fan do? Which fan should get the CPU fan header, and which should get a case/aux header, on the mobo, as the aux header will not have dynamic speeds related to cpu temperature, right?

As above it's ideal to have to equally matched fans so one isn't over working the other.

The splitter is a good idea so you can connect both to the CPU fan output on your motherboard, and control the speeds of them through the BIOS. You may need to get 4 pin fans for this though unless I'm mistaken.

as above, ideally you want the same fan, but if you cant its not the end of the world.
also make sure you get a cpu fan and not a case fan, some do both jobs, but then some case fans will not have the static pressure to do a good job on a cooler.
you can pick up something like a Noctua NF-P12 fairly cheap used on the bay
