CPU Question

Yes agree with steve258 the cpu does include a heatsink and fan also full packaging, usually the oem do not and come in a plain box.

It comes with an adequate fan for normal stock use. If you wish to overclock you'll need to upgrade.

So i got it today and found out the hard way it was the wrong sized socket for my motherboard, on the phone now to try and order the correct one :(

Oops. Oh yes there are a few different types of socket in use at the moment and many more discontinued ones.

I assume that you have a socket 1366 (X58) motherboard then?

If so, this and this are the CPUs worth looking at. (Both of these are retail models - so they come with a heatsink and fan (HSF)).

Out of interest, which motherboard and RAM models did you go for?

Im pretty sure these are correct for the board I bought( DDR3), as I've already installed them and they went into without any hassle.

Also 2 more questions, Do i have to install the graphics card? or.. I'm not exactly sure what to do on that front, and what power supply would you guys recommend? Because at the time i was told it would come with, but my friend forgot to mention that was only with the barebones setup.

I'm guessing 500w as im not going to be overclocking or running multiple graphics cards any time soon.

In the manual for the motherboard, it explains how to setup the RAM if you only have 2 sticks. So i just followed that.
