Buying a new PC not from this site. I have the option of an:

AMD BULLDOZER FX 4100 Black Edition, Quad Core, 3.6GHz/3.8GHz, 12MB Cache

Or

AMD BULLDOZER FX 6100 Black Edition, Six Core, 3.3GHz/3.9GHz, 14MB Cache no competitor price hinting.

I am planing to use my rig for gaming and AutoCAD with some 3D rendering software. I have heard that siz cores will benefit the CAD and rendering but not gaming. I'm wondering if games will perform worse with the hex core.

This is my whole rig:

Cooler Master Elite 430 All Black ATX Case with Side Window
500W Desktop Power Supply
MSI 970A-G46 AMD FX Motherboard - CrossFireX™/SLI™ Ready
AMD BULLDOZER FX 6100 Black Edition, Six Core, 3.3GHz/3.9GHz, 14MB Cache
8GB DDR3 1600MHz Memory (2x4GB) Kit
1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 - 384 Cores,DVI,mHDMI - 3D Vision Ready
1TB SATA III 6Gb/s, 7200rpm, 64Mb Cache, 8ms Hard Drive
24x DVD Writer (read/write CD & DVD)
Integrated 7.1 High Definition 8-channel Audio
High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections)
Microsoft Windows® 7 Home Premium 64 bit w/SP1 - inc DVD & Licence
FREE 60 Day Trial of Microsoft® Office® 2010 Professional Edition
BullGuard Internet Security ver. 13 - 90 Day Trial (pre-installed OS required)
22" Full HD LED Monitor - DVI-D.

AMD PILEDRIVER FX 8320 Black Edition, 8 Core, 3.5GHz/4.0GHz, 16MB Cache? no competitor price hinting.

Might be able to stretch to that.

I've got the FX6100 revision clocked at 4ghz and I love it.

Definably (for me) a strong dependable CPU to what I need it for.

AMD BULLDOZER FX 6100 Black Edition, Six Core, 3.3GHz/3.9GHz, 14MB Cache no competitor price hinting.
AMD BULLDOZER FX 8120 Black Edition, 8 Core, 3.1GHz/4.0GHz, 16MB Cache no competitor price hinting.
AMD PILEDRIVER FX 8320 Black Edition, 8 Core, 3.5GHz/4.0GHz, 16MB Cache no competitor price hinting.
AMD BULLDOZER FX 8150 Black Edition, 8 Core, 3.6GHz/4.2GHz, 16MB Cache no competitor price hinting.
AMD PILEDRIVER FX 8350 Black Edition, 8 Core, 4.0GHz/4.2GHz, 16MB Cache no competitor price hinting.

Those are my options. Thinking i might go for the 8320 as it will last me a while im guessing.

Good choice!

They have unlocked multipliers so you can always overclock if you need a bit more speed.

My 6100 is Idle at 8 degrees and load on FC3 & MW3 about 47-52.

say what ? lol is it in the fridge ??

I put a Piledriver 6300 in my system yesterday ( swapped it with the 4100 ) and straight away I noticed a speed difference

I was gonna go with a 8320...but funds didnt allow :)

lol, no!

I have a Corsair 600T, which is very well ventilated as well as having a 120mm exhaust at the back, 200mm exhaust at the top and a 200m intake at the front. Cooler is an Arctic Freezer 13, which is a fantastic cooler. I'm looking forward to getting my H60 next year, temps should be just as good!

yep ....mine says the same , But....the CPU is actually sitting at 27c :)

and if I'm not mistaken yours is actually around 30c :)

well....the lowest idle value is 8. I can come back from work and it's at 8-10. using it thought the day will get idle to 10-15 ish. Depends on what I'm running in the background.

Update: Just browsing the forum, it hits 13c :D

3 things in purple, is that 500w supply just a cheapo psu?
the gtx 650 is rather weak for gaming especially if that monitor is 1920x1080.
The mboard whilst is ok for mild overclocks, don't expect much out of it or it to last long if pushed too hard.

Your CPU is not sitting @8c or even 10c ....look at your screen shot again . can clearly see its @30c at the point of taking that screen shot :) lol

CPU sensor on the motherboard is TMPIN1 for that chipset. Don't trust the core temps until you have proved (to yourself) that they read right. It would have to be in a freezer to get 8-10C.
