Wow I could actually afford to get Ryzen 3?! Great! Only reason I suggested such fast RAM was that Ryzen 2 responded very well to faster RAM, is that not the case for Ryzen 3?

Also regarding the motherboard - I was trying to be loyal! Does the B450 chipset work with Ryzen 3?

EDIT - also my GPU is RX480 and I have an FX 6300 cpu, I want AM4

Yes, a quality B450 is a perfect match for the lower tier 3000 CPUs - the Tomahawk being one of them (do you need WiFi?). And OcUK havn't had stock of that particular boad for a while so you'll need to source else where. It also has 'Flash Back' so no need for a CPU to flash to Zen 2.

@tamzzy @orbitalwalsh - do you have that YouTube MSI flashback link to hand?

ryzen 3000 doesn't see that much gains as compared to ryzen 2000.
3200 ram is good enough.

Not while on the phone - making decisions (edited - hindsight; too much detail)

Trust me - that post was skillz - my phone call wasn't, but achieved what i knew needed to be done, but perhaps not as succinctly as i would have normally (phone call not post). Made a stressy call less of a PITA...
