can anyone recommend a good cpu for this mobo.. Asrock N68-GS4/USB3 FX
i know it's not the greatest of boards but it's all i have to work with atm...

According to the cpu list found here it can take up to a FX8370E but I wouldn't put any of the FX8000 and probably not even any of the FX6000 series cpu's in that board. It really is quite a poor board and only has 4+1 power phases and no vrm cooling at all. There looks to be no easy way to add vrm cooling either as they are in between caps and chokes.

thanks for the info m8.. might be best to get a new motherboard then.. i was looking at the 8350 FX 4.2Ghz ... what board would you recommend m8?
many thx in advance :)

None. Why are you looking at ancient cpu's and chipsets when Ryzen and the new socket is here? It's madness buying into a platform as old as AM3+. Your 3770k is better than anything on that socket. If the cheapest Ryzen is too much either wait for the rest to release or buy a 7600K with a Z270 board.

1.. because i'm a father of 7 and don't have a spare £450+ just for a cpu and mobo atm.. 2.. because it's not for me it's for the missus and the main thing she want's it for is to play sims 4... i'm happy with my build atm.. the only reason i was looking for a cpu for that board is because it has been sat collecting dust for some time and thought i'd try and do summet with it...
end of the day i was just after some input from other people before deciding what to do next...

There is no need to get snappy. I was just saying don't buy into a outdated ancient platform. Now we know what it's going to be used for I should imagine a Kabylake Pentium with HT such as the G4560 along with a B250 motherboard would be more than enough for her needs.

I've had good experience with a FX-4300 in low-to-mid end motherboards, they should be available for ~£50

I agree about avoiding the FX-8000 and FX-6000 lines for this motherboard though.
