Is there a special way you fit these on, I had to buy one the other day because when I was cleaning my Heatsink I clipped it back on and the side of it snapped off. A pain in the ass because I can't reassmble the PC due to the CPU not being properly applied to the heatsink.

I did think if I put it on the side and put some weight ontop of the CPU it might work the same until the replacement arrives but it does seem a bit like a silly idea :P

Also how hard is it to actually fit new ones, I bought one from ebay and I assume you just unscrew the old one off the Mobo and put the new one on? Although what about the part that goes on the back of the Mobo?

Thanks

It depends on the retention setup, some need you to take the mobo out to ensure you fit the backing plate to the top plate. And no putting a weight on top of it is not a good idea as an interim solution :)
