"If you are looking for the ultimate INTEL box then look no further than the Ultima OC 8800 GTX Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 Dual Core overclocked beyond X6800 clock speeds"

That is quoted in the description of the pc that i brought but how do i actually check the CPU speed to make sure? Yes i am still a n00b :(

Thanks :)

Thats intels power saving thingy. Do something that will create a load on the CPU (run Super_PI or a game or something) the multiplyer will jump and you will see your real CPU speed :)

ah right, not got much installed yet no games. Whats super PI? Should I run that then run CPU-Z during it?

Super pi is a CPU benchmark, was just an example :-)

Theres an option on the mobo to disable the auto-underclock but its best to leave it on. Will keep your CPU running cooling when your not using it with heavy load.

Is 3dmark a CPU benchmark aswell?

from looking at the FSB, your CPU is still at stock 2.4GHz, no overclocking has been done on it

You sound shocked! :p

Your right though. I thought ds3p rev2.0 only supported 1000FSB. rev3.0 is 1333.

Depends which version of 3Dmark you use but yes, I think all of them are upwards of 100mb, there is quite a lot of data in use there for the GPU to demonstrate. :)

cheers, I did just move this to the software area instead.

rev 1.0 and 2.0 support 1333MHz FSB with a bios update, otherwise they just support 1066MHz FSB
