CPU Speed...

When my computer isn't using much power it seems to run at 6X, instead of 8.5X, is this normal?
I'd prefer it to run at 8.5X the whole time to be honest but cant find a way to make that happen!

yes its normal, its an energy saving feature called speed step, if you really want you can disable it in your bios, though theres no reason to, if you do there may be additional features such as C1E and EIST which are part of same thing I think

There's no reason to turn SpeedStep off, your CPU will run at full speed when required and it'll ramp up in a matter of microseconds.

SpeedStep.......hardly a new feature, been on Intel CPUs since the Pentium 3. There's no need to turn it off.
