Just the mouse. Thought I'd fixed it when I changed the Speed and Acceleration setting in SetPoint to OS implementation rather than SetPoint implementation.Is the whole PC locking momentarily or is it just the mouse?
If the former could point to an IRQ problem. I've seen it caused by a TV card before for example... and just moving it to another PCI slot solved it.
Using NOD32. Will check the on-access scanning. Would it be safe to turn it off if that does turn out to be the problem.Any antivirus programs with on access scanning turned on that could be causing it? you dont have java installed and using up a shed load of memory do you?

Was thinking that could help. Will try that later.also try connecting your mouse to a different port (so its running off a different bus or whatever)

interferes with too much in my opinion, I keep spy ware checkers and immunizations all up to date and only ever go on the same set 5 websites so don't really see the need.... as well as the fact that if I get a virus 99% of the time ill just reinstall windows anyway instead of faffing about getting rid of it. (i could go on for ages explaining my reasons etc but im just going to run away now before people have a go at me
)
