Does anybody know if there's a free program to monitor CPU temp from the windows desk bar please? I found one called CPU Thermometer, but it doesn't work. I have Core Temp but would be nice to have the temperature in the tray visible all the time

What's that google thing please, got a link or something or should I search it here? Sounds tempting since I have no friends at all

Hi Dazz and welcome to the forum, OLDPHART :) here, right m8 Google is a great search engine -

Create a shortcut on your desktop for when ever you want to use it. ;)

If you want to find anything out about something just type it into the search bar. I'll give you a hand, since you are into computers here is a list of free software you can look up just type them one at a time via Google

1:Core Temp > cpu monitor.
2:GPU-Z > graphic's card info + monitor.
3.CPU-Z > cpu info
4.SuperPi > Calculate pi to a specified number of digits to test PC performance( most people use 1m to see how fast their PC is/ my PC does it in 09.672sec's)
5:MyDefrag > maintenance utility (harddisk defragmenter and optimizer)
6:ImgBurn > lightweight CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blu-ray burning application.

OK Dazz, just a few to get you started. ;) Before you download them read the info about each one and download the right one for your OS - example > l use Win 7 x64 so l would download that version. These bit's of software are well used Dazz. :)
 
with phenoms II u need to monitor the CPU temp, core temp program doesn't do that..

hwmonitor monitors the cpu monitor, depending on motherboard the cpu temp is tmpin0 or tmpin1.
 
I was being sarcastic man, just read my first post where I mention that I found this app called CPU Thermometer (through google BTW :) ), and that I already have Core Temp (wich has an option to minimize to tray, exactly what I wanted if it wasn't core temp but CPU temp instead). Also have most of those you list there (except for Super Pi & ImgBurn, and I'll try them for sure. Thanks). Ok I might not be that good at searching the web aparently, I can give you that :p but I tried

Gareth, I know it's CPU temp what should be monitored in phenoms (you advised that before and thanks about that again) My OC is ok now, maxed 50ºC (TMPIN0 in HWMonitor, and CPU temp in Probe) in 10h prime95 blend (see sig for settings) It's been for the most part thanks to the PII x6 1055T & 1090T thread and all of you guys there. I spent hours reading through a fair bunch of pages there before I started messing with my BIOS settings and stuff, but it all good now, or at least I think so :)
