CPU Temperature Reading

Earlier this year, I ordered a I7 2600k, and an ASUS P8Z68 to go with it.

However, throughout the duration of owning this board, I've never been able to get an accurate temperature reading from it.

I've tried a number of program and this is the spread I've got.

ASUS AI suite: 15.0C
SpeedFan: -60C ( )
Real Temp: Core1: 21 Core2: 22 Core3: 24 Core4: 23

So far, Real Temp would be the most accurate, at least, if I had to guess anyway.

Anyone able to shed some light on the variations?

Tried CPUID Hardware Monitor, or even the bios as well?

Sought out that hardware monitor, temperatures seem to match those of Real Temp.

So, about 20C, seems to be the accurate temperature of the CPU.

Any theory on what would cause the other results?

Unless your PC is in a cold place the ambient temperature will be around 20°C.

Unless you have some form of chilled cooling the CPU will be a good few degrees warmer than the ambient temperature.

It's just in my bedroom. I have a quite cold bedroom, I suppose.

Using the NH-D14 as a cooler.

The processor is overclocked to 4.5GHz as well, so, I was curious how far I could take it, temperature allowing.
